Welcome to Snowdown Park
Snowdown Colliery site, located between Dover and Canterbury just off the A2, has been disused since the closure of the mines in 1987. The site is currently held in a long lease between the Plumptre Trust and the Coal Authority.
The Plumptre Trust, the Coal Authority and Snowdown Park Ltd, have been working together for the past 7 years to bring forward a scheme for the redevelopment of the site, to make a unique destination that has something for everyone.
There will be two phases, starting with the engineered housing for employees right through to beehive allotments and a Honeybee research centre.
An environmentally sustainable community creating employment and a truly unique working experience where work-life balance is our highest priority.
We plan to breathe new life into the existing buildings, create employment opportunities in the local area and become an important and visual landmark in Kent.
Honeybee Inspired Development
The Bee Yard will comprise of two distinct areas, linked by a large archway. Artisan makers, including a bakery, country store and specialist candle making room, where you will be able to watch candles being made from our viewing platform, which will be a star feature.
There will be a large focus on other crafts using products derived from the hive, such as mead making, beeswax wraps and cosmetics. Each area will be in the shape of a honeybee hive cell, which will continue throughout the site to create an incredible aerial view.
Are you a local contractor?
As part of our Snowdown Park project, we are looking for contractors in the local area that would be interested in working on the project with us.
